Endemic to Sri Lanka, the Orange-billed Babbler (Argya rufescens) moves through the rainforest in close-knit groups, rarely seen alone. These highly social birds forage collectively, using constant vocalisations to maintain group cohesion and alert one another to movement within the rainforest understory.
It is now recognised as a distinct endemic species, shaped by Sri Lanka’s unique forest ecosystems. Its bright orange bill and warm rufous plumage stand out briefly before the group disappears back into the foliage.
